I have a couple of old postcards of City Hall and surroundings from when San Pablo continued through to connect with Broadway at 14th – I find all of the reorganization of downtown and near the lake really interesting (and I worked in a business on Frank Ogawa Plaza before lockdown).
During normal times, the city of Oakland gives walking tours of Old Oakland featuring many of these buildings and some of the people connected with them.
During COVID, you can take a self-guided walking tour of Old Oakland, or even completely virtual version from your computer: https://walk.ouroakland.net/
